"beauty and style" best in bridal recap

BFF Bridal did not disappoint. Tuesday night's "Beauty and Style" event reminded me of the ultimate slumber party complete with makeovers, midnight snacks and dress up. I honestly could have stayed all night and wish I would have brought my bridesmaids, my mom and yes, my groom. Hosted at the W New York- Union Square, the line was once again wrapped around corners and down stairs but this time, I learned my lesson and got there early. Upon entering, brides-to-be and their guests were greeted by the sweet smell of beauty (a mix of perfume and powder) and cocktails by Midori. If you haven't thought about signature cocktails, do it. It's a great way of incorporating color at the bar, in this case it was Midori green. Dresses by Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier were being modeled and on every surface, there were mountains of petals designed by Surroundings Flowers. Ladies were eagerly lining up to get hand massages from Bliss Spa and lashes by Laura Mercer. I quickly found myself chatting and then sitting with Face Time cosmetics, of the famed Beauty in a Box (below.) A brilliant idea for a bridesmaid gift, the Beauty in a Box ($90) is foolproof beauty, even for a klutz like me. Each box contains an assortment of classic beauty products, along with step-by-step lessons on how to get an array of looks like Sultry, Stunning, Romantic. I was feeling Sultry (with another cocktail in hand.) Moments later, my eyelids were smokey and yes, celebrity quality sultry. The next few minutes was a whirlwind of glitz and glam. I chatted with Exhale Mind Body Spa about getting my butt in shape and then MYLA London about flattering it with layers of ultra soft lace and satin. Featured on The Style Group’s Top 10 Luxury Lingerie List, their line of lingerie is both classic and naughty and certainly too pretty to keep under clothing.
Taking a break from beauty, I spent some time with Surroundings Flowers. We still have not picked a florist so I was eager to get as much advise and inspiration as I could. When it comes to floral design, it's hard to get it just right. Simple is best but sometimes that translates into disaster. Not the case with Surroundings. Each of their pieces as plucked from perfection. Back to beauty, I was introduced to Tara Segall of Eva Scrivo who brainstormed with me about what looks would work well with my dress style. She also recommended booking a trial appointment at a big name salon like Eva Scrivo even if you are planning to go local for your big day. Other highlights included meeting Mark Ingram, Darcy Miller, editor of Martha Stewart Weddings and Tara Mandy, co-founder of BFF Bridal. I am continually amazed at how gracious these top notch professionals are in offering advise and inspiration. The ultimate treat was meeting Jenny Ebert whose work I have admired from a far. All photographs here are courtesy of Jenny Ebert, an amazing photographer who is as friendly as she is fierce. Thanks Jenny and cheers to BFF Bridal for the Best in Beauty and Style.
