kitchenaid color harmony

The KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer, a culinary rite of passage. Owning one means 1. you've dished out about $300 and 2. you are a master of all things mixed, stirred and rolled. Throughout the ages, the KitchenAid Mixer has been a staple in kitchens everywhere and a favorite of top chefs. Their functionality is second only to their iconic design. Now they are available in a spectrum of colors and what color you pick for your own kitchen says a world about your style sensibility. Here are some of my favorites...

Grass Green- Such an earthy color (and an earth friendly name) sets the tone for au natural. If grass green is your pick, match your mixer with hearty accessories like wooden bowls, spoons and thick organic cotton textiles. Natural flooring options like cork or bamboo paired with earth friendly terra-cotta tiles complete the look. Items from top: Mario Batali cookware from Crate and Barrel, from $29. KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in grass green at Williams-Sonoma, $299. Aktion spicemill at Ikea, $8. Bird in a Tree cup no saucer pedestal foot at Fish Eddys, $8. Pileated Woodpecker Design Utensil holder from Etsy seller Jim and Gina, $46. Log Boxes from Jayson Home & Garden via Oh Joy!, $30 - $48. Bottna patterned apron from Merimekko.

Empire Red- Fit for royalty and as striking as a ruby. An empire red Mixer will call attention in any kitchen so picking pieces that are striking and polished is a must. Rich lacquer and stainless steel finishes work well in setting the stage for this gem. From top: Maxfield Napkin Rings at Pottery Barn, Set of 6 $30.00 and Classic Hotel Monogrammed Dinner Napkin at Pottery Barn, Set of 6 $24.00. Balcon Du Guadalquivir place setting by Hermes available at Michael C. Fina. Call for pricing. Stainless Steel Pitcher at Crate and Barrel, $30. KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in Empire Red from Williams-Sonoma, $299.

Cornflower Blue-For the coastal kitchen by the sea, only blue will do. Light pieces such as hand blown glass work well with this cool color. Try tiny glass tiles in shades of aqua or turquoise are perfect for countertops or back splash. From top: Embroidered hand towel from Etsy seller lorenzstudio, $12. Hand blown color drop glass at Anthropologie, $10. Optic Sea Glass Table Lamp at Crate and Barrel, $90. Sea Urchin Vases at Crate and Barrel, $6.50 - $8.50. KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in Cornflower Blue from Williams-Sonoma, $299.

Clementine- Not for the faint of heart, with a clementine mixer in the kitchen you'll always have a bright spot. Retro pieces are right at home in this kitchen like vintage pyrex. Get playful with wood laminate and lots of open shelving to display quirky collections. From top: Carnival Jumbo Cup Saucer at Fishs Eddy, $12 . New Handle Tea Set from Misiak via Oh Joy! KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in Clementine from Williams-Sonoma, $299. Tiki Bar Coasters at Anthropologie, $32.

Buttercup Yellow- Nothing is softer than a warmed stick of butter or this mixer in a shade so sweet. Country kitchens are perfect matches for a buttercup mixer. Textured items like baskets and linen work well with this color as do handmade ceramics or porcelain. From top: gorgeous milk bottle carafes from three potato four via design sponge, $32. KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in Buttercup Yellow from Williams-Sonoma, $299. Vintage Cutlery from Re-found Objects. Apilco Icon Plates, Bee, Set of 2 at Williams-Sonoma, Set of 2, $36. Bumble Bee Glasses, Set of 4 at Williams-Sonoma, Set of 4, $24. Le Creuset Oval Dutch Ovens, $210.

Mine is RED- of course! But, I love your blue collection! So cool and soft. I don't know if we are masters of anything, but I love my Kitchenaid!

Mine is red too! I love it, and it makes my coutertops happy. I honestly do not use it often, but when I make bran muffins or cookies, it does the job better than I could.

Gorgeous boards--they are all snappy.

I've got a black KitchenAid, I agree with kate...black goes with everything! ;) (plus it stays cleaner than a white one...)

How fun! I always wonder what color I would get if I baked. After your post I have decided on green! I love the woodpecker bowl. So cute. Great boards. The green is awesome, love the woodsy theme!

So glad you all enjoyed the post. I had almost too fun creating it! I have yet to purchase (or receive) a kitchenaid of my own and fear I will never pick a color. hopefully someone who knows me well will make the decision for me, but I am partial to red...and silver, and green and my friend has a sweet copper one...

You've created such a beautiful blog.
Thank you so much for including the embroidered towel from my etsy shop.

Mine is a matte finish silver. It was a gift, so I didn't choose the color, but I love how well it mixes in with the rest of the kitchen (pun intended).

I have been dreaming of owning the clementine for quite a while now - and seeing your collection of goodies that go along with it makes me want it even more! Sigh.
